DETECTION & GEOLOCATION

PBL Ground

Passive Basestation Location

Platform requirement: operates as an add-on to the ICS-550 and ICS-550SE.
MISSION BRIEF

About the PBL Ground

PBL Ground is an application that can be added to any ICS system. PBL allows a user to drive an area of interest and measure the cellular signals present to determine the physical location of the emitters. PBL uses proprietary location algorithms to establish the location of towers to within tens of meters.

Typically, 90% of the towers are detected within 200m or better. Denser drive patterns typically provide improved accuracy. All prediction measurements are made while collecting survey data. The collected data is processed to calculate the location of the tower. A .kml file is produced, which is then plotted in Google Earth™ or other mapping software.

Each sector is indicated by either the Cell ID for LTE, WCDMA and GSM towers, or the Sector ID for EVDO and the Base ID for CDMA. Basic control channel information is displayed for each sector. Often the predicted locations are more accurate than actual databased locations of towers.

Plots can be narrowed to view particular operators, frequencies, and protocols as well as the estimated orientation of the sectors.
